Ú Not Just the Girl Next Door Ë Download by ☆ Stacy Connelly I m not rating this book because the reason I didn t like it is the plot not the writer I really wish these category publishers would move with the times and stop boxing their authors in to molds which society should have outgrown The heroine has been in love with the hero for years while he was her brother s best friend and didn t see her that way A well worn trope which can be fun if the heroine isn t wasting away Unfortunately, she is wasting away She doesn t have her own life yes, she is a virgin and refuses to move forward with her own life even as the hero is engaged to somebody else After the engagement doesn t work he is playing the field She just sits there with her dogs waiting for him to notice her Her friends try to intervene saying what the reader is thinking Enough and move on Of course the hero finally notices her after she starts to make baby steps forward He gets jealous and they get together I hate that I don t understand why the heroine isn t allowed to move forward in an attempt to get over him while he s engaged or with other women Maybe move away or something and then come back or just move forward in the same town When men are written in unrequited love situations they aren t stagnant or celibate The old double standards strikes again from Harlequin This is a review of the category publisher so than the writer and this refusal to allow the heroines to behave normally in the 21st century.
