Ý Read ✓ The Venetian House by Mary Nickson ↠´ I really didn t like this one, had to struggle myself through every page I ve read the whole book, hoping it would get better, but for me it didn t Wasn t my thing.
This is one of those books which will stay with me for a long time I crave family stories and the generations the better No family is perfect but I find it soothing to read about how families still bring themselves together in times of desperation.
Family stories that evolve around a place also does it for me everytime How a house or a certain place is very much part of a family is beautiful and I understand how important this is A family gives a house its character and the house, in turn, can become the very personification of the family.
Vrahos and The Venetian House truly is the center piece of this story We read through Victoria s happy childhood in this house and how she returns to it after a great tragedy in her family I don t want to give much away because the story is worth reading, but I liked how we expect the story to be just this character trying to get back on her feet and, as soon as she starts to fall in love again, this other person is very important to the family in ways we are not expecting.
If you like long lost love and found again stories this is the story for you It reminded me of The Lost Wife by Alison Richman, which I also recommend Give yourself the pleasure of slowing down after your troubled day reading this fascinating story I can understand that some parts could be just quicker and you just wish to move on to the next chapter but, as always, it all comes down together in the end.
For Victoria, Orphaned At Six, Her Grandmother Evanthi S Beautiful Home In Corfu Known Locally As The Venetian House Has Always Meant Safety, Freedom And A Near Magical Kind Of Contentment Brought Up By Her Cousin Guy S Parents In England, She Together With Guy And His Childhood Friend Richard Always Longed For The Idyllic Summer Holidays In Corfu Where They Forged A Friendship That Would Last A Lifetime Victoria Was Mesmerized By Brilliant, Selfish, Enigmatic Guy, But It Was Safe, Affectionate, Reliable Richard Whom She Married Now, Twenty Years Later, Richard Is Dead Victoria Discovers Her Marriage Was A Sham And, Desperate To Escape, She Takes Her Son Jake Out To The Venetian House, Feeling That Only In These Beloved Surroundings Can She Face Her Demons Then Photographer Patrick Hammond Arrives He Brings With Him His Own Troubles His Marriage To Elegant, Self Centred, Neurotic Rachel Is In Crisis Yet A Friendship, And Possibly Something , Starts To Develop Between Patrick And Victoria But For Evanthi There Is Something Strangely Familiar About Patrick And Soon She Is Forced To Face Her Own Troubled Past Este romance foi uma boa hist ria de ler com boas personagens, com uma boa personagem para odiar e chamar de imbecil vezes sem conta obrigada Mary por criares a Rachel daqueles personagens que ficam na mem ria pelas piores raz es mas precisamos delas para uma boa hist ria O romance que se desenvolve entre as personagens principais, apesar de previs vel a partir de certo momento, foi bem conseguido, e a hist ria do romance entre as personagens com mais idade uma cereja em cima do bolo uma boa hist ria sem d vida Mant m nos agarrados se bem que n o daquelas hist rias que lemos de uma assentada s boa mas n o excelente Ainda assim, posso dizer que gostei.
Blimey it was long And so many bad sad things happen to the people in this book Thank God they had a Greek idyll to rest in I can t believe how badly behaved some of the characters were I sound like a headmistress when I say that But honestly a bit beyound the suspension of disbelief Toast I m sure this book could have been 200 pages shorter and have lost nothing in the telling That said it was easy to read and generally engaging I have to admit to finding the dialogue somewhat tedious however, nobody talks like this the characters when conversing would need to sit down in turns due to how long the other person takes to say their bit, and everybody is so earnest in everything they say I enjoyed it however and thought the characters interesting minus the page long soliloquies they somehow use to converse.
